What Is Social Gospel?
The Core Philosophy
The Social Gospel was a Protestant intellectual movement prominent in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, applying Christian ethics to social problems like poverty, inequality, and injustice. It advocated for social reform, economic justice, and peace, believing that Christians had a duty to build the Kingdom of God on Earth.
Political ideologies are rarely static. They exist on a spectrum of economic freedom and social liberty. Understanding where Social Gospel falls on this spectrum is critical to analysing modern geopolitical shifts and understanding systemic structures.
